FAQ 01

What is Q-Lana, in one sentence?

Q-Lana is the operating system for SME, corporate finance, and fund management, used by financial institutions and fund managers to turn information into intelligence and intelligence into advantage.

FAQ 02

Who is Q-Lana for?

Two audiences. Financial institutions: commercial banks, DFIs, microfinance institutions, specialized lenders that take SME and corporate lending seriously. Fund managers: private debt and equity funds, impact funds, real estate funds. Both share the same operating discipline.

FAQ 03

How is Q-Lana different from a core banking system?

A core banking system records transactions and runs the back office. Q-Lana is the operating layer above it. It manages the lending lifecycle, runs the risk analytics, holds the portfolio intelligence, and delivers the reporting. Q-Lana does not replace the core; it gives the institution one place to make decisions.

FAQ 04

How is Q-Lana different from a loan origination system or fund administrator?

Most loan origination systems cover origination only and stop at disbursement. Most fund administrators run on a system the manager will never own. Q-Lana is end-to-end and the manager owns it from day one. Same platform, same audit trail, from origination through monitoring to LP report.

FAQ 05

How long does implementation take?

A typical fund or lending platform deployment lands in three to six months, depending on scope. Q-Lana is built on a low-code architecture so configuration is faster than re-coding. Q-LIA can lead the implementation; Managed Administration can operate the platform until your in-house team takes over.

FAQ 06

What does pricing look like?

Cloud-based SaaS with three components: a one-time configuration fee scoped to the implementation, an annual service charge based on assets under management, and separate hosting (we collaborate to find the right hosting partner). Updates are included; ongoing configuration changes are budgeted as required.

FAQ 07

Cloud or on-premise?

Either. Most clients deploy in the cloud for speed and updates. On-premise is supported for institutions with regulatory or data-sovereignty requirements.

FAQ 08

Where does our data live?

Hosted in the region you require. Q-Lana adheres to GDPR, applicable data-protection regimes, and DFI investor standards. Access controls, logging, audit trails, and annual security reviews are part of the standard configuration.

FAQ 09

What integrations do you support?

Q-Lana exposes APIs and integrates with leading core banking systems, fund administrators, accounting platforms, and external data providers (credit bureaus, KYC and AML services, market data). The low-code architecture means new integrations can be added in days, not months.

FAQ 10

Who will we be working with?

A senior team. Christian Ruehmer (Co-Founder, CEO) leads strategic engagements personally. The implementation team has 30+ years of senior financial services experience between them. The Q-LIA advisory subsidiary is led by practitioners who have run funds and lending businesses themselves.

FAQ 11

What does success in year one look like?

By month three: platform live with the first lending or investment workflow. By month six: full operating model running, reporting cadence established, the team trained. By month twelve: the institution can defend any credit or investment decision in front of an auditor, regulator, or Board committee with one click. The portfolio is sharper than it was the day Q-Lana arrived.

FAQ 12

What happens if we want to leave?

All your data is exportable in standard formats at any time. The platform is yours; there is no vendor lock-in by design. Q-Lana stays through the valley because the partnership earns it, not because the contract enforces it.

FAQ 13

Is Q-Lana a fintech startup or an established firm?

Q-Lana Inc. is incorporated in the United States with subsidiaries in Rwanda (Q-Lana Rwanda Ltd) and the investment advisory entity Q-LIA. We have been operating since 2019. Our team brings 30+ years of senior global experience across fund structuring, credit risk management, blended finance, and digital transformation.

FAQ 14

What is Q-LIA and how does it relate to Q-Lana Inc?

Q-LIA, Q-Lana Investment Advisors, is a 100% subsidiary of Q-Lana Inc., registered in Rwanda and in the registration process with the Capital Markets Authority as Investment Manager. Q-LIA is the advisory and fund-management arm. The separation is deliberate: it keeps regulatory licensing clean and manages the conflict of interest between the platform and advisory businesses.
